Message Summary

Franklin Graham opened by sharing a little of his testimony. In describing his ministry, he led into his theme: when we are ministering in the world, we are doing the King's business. To further illustrate this idea, Graham looked at Jesus' life and ministry in the gospels. Jesus would drop whatever He was doing to heal, preach or feed a soul, because that was the King's work and He was to be doing it.

Graham went on to stress his point with the examples of a few of his friends. There was Eileen, the missionary to Jordan, and Sam, working in Beirut and now Baghdad. Graham emphasized through these examples that it was not their own work being done in these situations, but God’s and that is what makes it all possible. His last example, of his associations with Nicaraguan contras, served to fully drive the point home -- that God’s business is big business.

He concluded with words of encouragement and challenge for the audience that we may also be building the King’s business with force and dedication because that is the only way to get things done.

Student Response

This message was an exciting reminder to me of how powerful my God is. There is nothing I need to do on my own because He is always my strength and support. If I endeavor to do my King’s business, it cannot help but work out for His glory. That’s how He works and that is what Franklin Graham’s message reinforced.
